Dear Friend,
Your generosity this holiday season can change the life of a child like Kayden.
And, thanks to our loyal board members, your gift will help kids with educational and behavioral challenges TWICE as much—because all gifts up to $30,000 will be matched between now and the end of the year.
Kayden is an 8-year-old boy currently staying in our Neurodevelopmental Unit (NDU) for the third time. He’s very young but has already endured a great deal. Shortly after birth, he required several major surgeries. Later, he was diagnosed with digestive disorders and autism. His physical and emotional challenges disrupted his schooling, and he became anxious and depressed. The situation was more than Laura, his grandmother/guardian, could handle.
At Italian Home, Kayden has blossomed—being taught ways to learn and practice self-control.
“This is the first place he feels at ease,” Laura says. “I can finally get some sleep. He shows how happy he is to be there. He feels cared about.
“While my grandson’s journey tends to travel a winding course, I see all the work that everyone is doing with him. He has an amazing rapport with his clinician, behavioral analyst, and occupational therapist. He respects all of them.
“With his clinician, he is attempting to verbalize his feelings for the first time, and we have learned exactly what types of stimulus and sensory needs he requires from the expertise that the occupational therapist has taught us.
“I am so very thankful to the NDU. It has made a world of difference in both my life and my grandson’s life. To be perfectly transparent, I don’t know how the family would have survived intact without his admission to the unit.“
Will you please support families like Kayden’s with a year-end gift?
Thank you!
