THERAPEUTIC SUMMER CAMP

JAMAICA PLAIN

The F.O.C.U.S. 'Focusing on Children’s Ultimate Success' Therapeutic Summer Camp serves families whose children may be returning from out of home placements, at risk for disrupting placements at school and or home, and who need assistance in building their capacity to utilize community supports.

The program provides highly structured activities and therapeutic groups  to children for whom traditional, less structured programs may not be appropriate. We have licensed clinicians who work closely with families and service providers to ensure that all needs are being met.

The summer program runs from July 1 to August 30.
For information contact Damla Tuzcu at dtuzcu@italianhome.org

The summer schedule focuses on children’s capabilities regarding physical and mental development and to ensure that children not only grow and mature but that they learn to have fun and feel good about themselves.  Time is allowed for children to check in with clinicians to talk about their day and to address any specific needs or stressors they may be experiencing. Therapeutic groups are conducted daily and provided throughout the summer and include topics such as bullying, conflict resolution, health and hygiene, and building social skills.

Like typical summer programs, the children also participate in community activities, field trips that include visiting museums, arcades, rock climbing, and zoos, and on-campus activities such as swimming, nature walks, and sports.
